From 1996-2001, I held Grants Officer and Grants Manager positions at County Durham Community Foundation (CDCF) working on endowment based and donor supported funds as well as government funded initiatives such as the Local Network Fund, Neighbourhood Renewal Community Chest and Grassroots Grants.
I still undertake freelance assessment work for CDCF. In 2009 I was contracted by the Foundation to manage the Targeted Support Fund in County Durham and Darlington and successfully distributed nearly £800k worth of grants in these two top tier local authorities within a two month timeframe. Most recently (July 2015) I was commissioned to interim manage the grant distribution of over £300k from two high profile funds (Durham Police and Crime Commissioner Community Safety Fund and NHS Health Improvement Fund).
My experience of lottery funded programmes commenced in 2002 when contracted to assess and grant manage capital and revenue (up to £300k) bids for the Community Fund and capital bids from public, private and voluntary sector applicants to the Building Neighbourhood Nurseries programme (England) and the Building Quality Childcare programme (Northern Ireland) on behalf of New Opportunities Fund. I have since externally assessed for several Big Lottery Fund programmes delivered by large national charities, including:

I’m a former assessor for BBC Children in Need and have undertaken appraisals of national CVS projects for Charities Aid Foundation on behalf of the Finance Hub.
A contract with Darlington Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) to deliver funding advice and bid writing support enabled me to help individuals, community groups and charities in this borough secure over £1.2m of grant funding.
During a 3 year business partnership (2005-2008) with a former colleague, Anderson & Gollan was commissioned to deliver a range of evaluation and research projects, including:
Since March 2010, I have been contracted to manage administration of the Yapp Charitable Trust - a national grant making charity that distributes around £300k per year to small charities seeking help with core costs.
I apply my extensive grant assessment experience to the principles of bid writing and have gained an impressive success rate in securing revenue and project income from lottery, statutory, public and charitable funds.
